The Minister for Science and Innovation, Cristina Garmendia, today opened the Technology Transfer Centre Technology Park of Fuente Alamo, University of Murcia, which is destined to become a core element of university life and in an ideal channel for connection between the university and its immediate surroundings, said.

Since 2005, the Ministry of Education and Science has invested € 1.643M in Spanish parks.

The minister stressed the government's commitment for Science and Innovation since 2004, reflected in key indicators related to R & D.
In this regard, he referred to data from the National Statistical Institute for 2008, indicating that investment in R & D to GDP ratio rose from 1.27% in 2007 to 1.35% in 2008.
Likewise, the minister highlighted that public sector, which is fed mainly from the contribution of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, investment has increased by 13.8%.
And also the private sector continues to increase, with a growth rate of 8.3%, a good thing considering the economic situation, he added.
Finally, the minister has referred to the significant growth in the number of researchers from the National System, whose cumulative increase since 2004 amounts to 30%.
