The regional government president, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, opened today in Fuente Alamo new building facilities 'Agricultural Center', a multipurpose facility designed to provide services both within the municipal area and to meet the needs of the farming population.
Valcárcel was accompanied at the ceremony by the Mayor of Fuente Alamo, María Antonia Conesa, and the Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerda.
The new building, located in the heart of town, has been built on a plot of 475 square meters and consists of four floors and basement, which are distributed among different units whose total area amounts to more than 2,262 meters square.
The building, which Valcárcel has said that "what matters is not the continent, which is great, but the content", is designed to meet the different needs of citizens in various spheres of activity.
The Chief Executive noted that this infrastructure Murcia "joins Mazarron and Fuente Alamo around a Regional Office that makes it easier for farmers in an extraordinary way."
Also, Valcarcel reminded that the same place where now stands the building, fifty years ago housed the headquarters of the ancient Brotherhood of Farmers of Fuente Alamo.
The president announced that "it is considering building in the center of Murcia, a building for the Chamber of Agriculture that will be a reality now and not much time"
The new 'Centro Agrario' has a ground floor has an auditorium with capacity for 140 people and a classroom capable of holding 30 others, while the first floor contains several offices to serve the local youth population led by the Youth Council of Fuente Alamo.
On the second floor are different agencies that together make up a District Agricultural Office (OCA) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, which aims to meet the demands and needs of the farming population of the area, for which has a staff of six people, which include a technician in agriculture and two veterinary inspectors.
The services we develop this new Regional Office include information and assistance to farmers and ranchers, as well as training, information technology, assessment of damage due to inclement weather, management and inspection and subsidies, the provision of data and management information centers of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, and other functions within its remit.
With the same objective of meeting the demands and needs of the agricultural sector, on the third floor concentrate other facilities dependent on three major agricultural organizations in the Region: COAG-IR, ADEA-ASAJA and UPA.
The construction of this new infrastructure represents an investment of more than 600,000 euros from the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, in addition to about one million euros provided by the City of Alamo Fuente for carrying out the work.
The new District Agricultural Office Fuente Alamo, Mazarron is in addition to the ten already in the region, and offer its services to farmers and ranchers in Fuente Alamo and those of Mazarrón and the hamlets of Corvera, Lobosillo, Valladolises and Carrascoy- La Murta, belonging to the municipality of Murcia.
