The sports competition 'Sierra del Algarrobo' has already kicked off its IX edition, which will be held on March 11 in the hamlet of Las Palas as a starting point.
The test was presented at the Town Hall of the City Council of Fuente Álamo, organizer of the event together with the Club Ciclista de Fuente Álamo and the Senderista Club of Fuente Álamo.
"Every year we try to include new disciplines", explained Juan Andrés Meca, president of the Cycling Club, with regard to the 12 km non-competitive Nordic march exhibition included this year between the different categories of the championship.
"The Nordic march is on the rise and we want people to know it a little more," said Miguel Ángel Barbero, president of the Senderista Club.
To this novelty, joins a circuit of shorter Trail, 12 km and 300 meters of difference, which will be part of the test in this discipline, in addition to the traditional 30 km and 1,100 meters.
The goal is that "both high level athletes and fans can enjoy and share the spectacle of the competition," said Meca.
However, the Sierra del Algarrobo IX edition brings more novelties in its star discipline, the BXM: the participants will score for the Faster Wear Cup, which has introduced this circuit within its calendar.
The distance and unevenness are maintained with respect to the previous year, 40 km and 1,200 meters.
In addition, not only adults will compete according to the obstacles of the Faster Cup, also the youngest will be able to drive their mountain bike in an exhibition, framed within the Faster Wear Mini Cup, another of the novelties for which the organization has bet .
"We want to work from the quarry," said Meca, who has announced free registration for children from 6 to 14 years, since it is included in the Murciano School Sport.
More than 700 attendees did not want to miss the previous edition, which translates into "a test that puts us even more on the sports map of the Region of Murcia", said Ginés Bermúdez, sports technical director of the City of Fuente Álamo.
On the other hand, the mayor of the municipality, Antonio Jesús García Conesa, highlighted "the consolidation of sport in the Villa of Fuente Álamo after 30 years of competitions and tireless work of all the neighbors".
The Association of Women of Las Palas and the Family Leisure Association of Fuente Álamo Akituocio collaborate in the provisioning and coordination of the participants in a disinterested way, something that Meca has put in value, also encouraging neighbors to attend and enjoy "a family and healthy day in the nature of our Municipality ".
