Researchers from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) will analyze, in collaboration with the technicians of the City Council of Fuente lamo, the Urban Development Plan of Fuente lamo and diagnose the urban and physical reality of the municipality, for which the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Alejandro Daz Morcillo, has signed a collaboration agreement with the mayor of the town, Antonio Garca Jess Conesa.
The collaboration between the UPCT and Fuente lamo, in whose Technological Park is located the Technological Development and Innovation Center (CEDIT) of the Polytechnic, will also be extended to the academic field through the choice of places in the municipality for the realization of architectural projects by of the students of the School of Architecture and Building Engineering (ETSAE).
"Fuente lamo must address its urban planning with a realistic, rational and sustainable plan, away from the approaches of the years of the housing bubble, and what better to start with the diagnosis of an academic institution and independent as the UPCT", commented the mayor of the municipality.
The City Council of Fuente lamo began the development of a new General Plan more than a decade ago, but after its initial approval in 2006, its processing remained stagnant.
This plan included more than a dozen urban agreements that requalified large areas of rustic land, many of which have already been rescinded by court rulings or agreements between the promoters and the City Council.
For his part, the rector of the UPCT, explained that "this agreement is added to the long list of agreements with municipalities in the Region, through which we transfer to society the knowledge, in this case in town planning, of our researchers. "
The analysis of the researchers will be carried out during the next twelve months and will lay the foundations for the preparation of a new General Plan for Urban Planning.
The City will contribute around 34,000 euros of own funds;
the UPCT, resources valued at almost 14,000 euros.
Four experts of the Urban Research Laboratory of the UPCT, coordinated by the vice-rector of Campus and Sustainability, Marcos Ros, will work jointly with the municipal technicians of the City Council.
The agreement will serve to know the current urban and urban situation of the municipality, as well as the monitoring of the adequacy of the General Plan to the new socioeconomic circumstances.
Likewise, it will establish the fundamental directives of action for the future to adapt the urbanistic strategy of the municipality to the urban, territorial, social and economic reality of Fuente lamo.
The estimated total duration of the collaboration agreement is two years, one for the preparation of the work and another for the tasks of dissemination and dissemination of the results of the research (congresses, conferences, publications and exhibitions).
