The new Center for Women's Balsapintada (Fuente Alamo), opened today by the Minister for Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, three times the area of former dependencies.
It has gone from 40 sqm to 120 existing plants.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the director of the Institute for Women in the Region of Murcia, Teresa Moreno, and the Mayor of Fuente Alamo, María Antonia Conesa.
The new store, located on Calle Juan Castell, was hired by the municipality of Fuente Alamo and restored jointly by the local authority and the Ministry.
The adaptation works amounted to 42,823 euros, of which 34,450 were paid by the Autonomous Community and the remaining 8,373 euros, the local government.
After the rehabilitation, the center has been granted by the Consistory to Balsapintada Women's Association, composed of 200 components and chaired by Mary Celdran.
Among the cultural activities carried out included theater workshops, cooking and painting.
The town has another location with similar characteristics, assigned to the various women's associations.
In 2008 subsidies were granted for improvement and equipping of such facilities in the Region in the amount of 1,240,000 euros, compared to 840,000 in 2007.
