The Community earmarks two million euros to improve the second section of the highway and is scheduled to tender the last 11 kilometers next year
The RM-404 highway, which connects Yecla with the Albacete town of Fuente lamo, has a new lane to increase road safety for drivers passing through this route, after some works in which the regional government has invested more than two millions of euros.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, and the Mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuo, today inaugurated the expansion of the highway, which "significantly improves the circulation of vehicles, since from now on two cars will be able to transit simultaneously. safely and comfortably, and will reduce travel times between the two populations. "
Valverde stressed that the works "increase the economic activity of the area by allowing heavy vehicles to circulate and access to farms located in the vicinity of the regional road."
The action has been developed in a section of 9.4 kilometers, included between kilometer point 6.4 and 15.8, and gives continuity to the works already executed by the Community in the first section of the RM-404, with a length of 6.4 kilometers and an investment of 1.6 million.
The regional government has allocated a total of 3.6 million to the highway, between the first two sections.
In this sense, Valverde stressed that "the improvement of this road is an objective of the regional government" and noted that, "as recently committed President Fernando Lopez Miras, the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community will include the necessary financial endowment to The next and third installment of this route, of almost 11 kilometers, which will connect Yecla to the province limit of Albacete, will be put out to tender next year. "
Renovation of the road section
The main improvement of the works has consisted of an increase of the platform, which goes from 5 to 9 meters, with two lanes of 3.5 meters wide and external shoulders each of 0.5 meters each, and have also been corrected the irregularities of the layout with transition curves.
The firm and improved drainage of the platform and of the margins has also been renewed, to avoid the negative effects that the rain produces on the road and collect the water in the lateral gutters, and the vertical and horizontal signs of the road have been replaced. via.
